My family and I are going to Disney World in November and I am wondering which resort is the best between Port Orleans Riverside and Coronado Springs? We have a seven year old daughter and an eleven year old son.

I've stayed at both and my personal favorite is Port Orleans Riverside.  We found that resort to be quite beautiful with plush foliage and charming pathways throughout the resort.  Our accommodations were located in the Alligator bayou section of the resort and we were in close proximity to both the food court and a pool.  My children loved Ol' Man Island, the main themed pool.  We also enjoyed walking alongside the Sassagoula River to Port Olreans French Quarter where we bought (and promptly devoured) beignets from the food court there.  There are lots of recreational opportunities at Port Orleans Riverside including: a fishing hole, a marina, surrey bike rentals, and horse drawn carriage rides (all for an additional fee).

I would be remiss though if I didn't tell you that the Dig Site Pool at the Coronado Springs Resort is perhaps the most popular themed pool at any of Disney's moderate resorts.  Kids are in awe of the huge Mayan pyramid and squeal with delight as they slide down the exceptionally long water slide.  There is even a playground where little ones can practice to become archeologists.  The food court at Coronado Springs is also a big draw; many people consider it to have some of the best counter service options around.

Both resorts are quite large and, depending upon where your room is, may require a lot of walking to get to the resort hub or pool area.

My vote would be for Port Orleans Riverside but hopefully the information I've provided will help you to come to a decision that would best suit the needs of your family!
