My family and I will be in Disney World the first week of May and have rented a car for the duration of our stay. We are staying on Disney property, so we have access to the buses. Would it be easier to use the buses or drive to each park? Thank you!!

    Hi Jaycee,

There's a great debate among frequent Walt Disney World guests on the car vs. bus question, and it's a matter of personal preference, but I can tell you that I am firmly in the bus camp. For my family, the ability to park our car and hop on a bus, monorail or boat to our destination is a treat.

We tend to do a lot of park hopping, so by using the free Disney transportation, we never have to worry about making our way back to our parked car at the end of the night. And the Disney transportation deposits you right at the entrance of each park. No need for a walk or tram ride from the parking lot.

I especially like this at Magic Kingdom since all guests who use that parking lot must choose a ferry or monorail from the Transportation and Ticket Center to get to the front gate.

One thing to remember: The buses do not run directly from resort to resort, so if you are eating dinner at a resort other than the one where you are staying, driving often is easier than taking a bus to a park or Downtown Disney to transfer to your resort's bus. We make an exception for our no-driving rule, for example, when we have dinner at one of the great Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurants. (I highly recommend all the restaurants there, by the way.)

And, if you are visiting Downtown Disney, please know that the construction to transform the area into Disney Springs has made parking there somewhat challenging.

As I said, I know some of my other Moms Panel friends are as devoted to their cars as I am to the Disney transportation. But I hope I've given you enough information to help you make the decision that's best for your family.

Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. Enjoy your visit!
