Hello Robyn and thank you so much for asking the Disney Parks Moms Panel such a super interesting question about the much anticipated celestial occurrence of the solar eclipse which can be seen right across the United Stated of America from Oregon to South Carolina on Monday 21st August 2017.
I can absolutely understand your excitement of watching this heavenly spectacle as back in August 1999 I experienced a total solar eclipse myself here at home in the United Kingdom. I can only describe the moments in which the moon fully covered the face of the sun as ethereal and it truly made me realise how small we are in relation to the wider universe.
As I type I haven't hEARd news of any
official Disney solar eclipse celebrations or merchandise, so as always my best advice would be to keep a keen eye on the
Disney Parks Blog for all future Disney related announcements.
Of course it goes without saying that Guests can enjoy this magical phenomenon completely independently. However due to the scientific nature of this event I would recommend seeking expert advice on the safe use of viewing devices and procedures as looking directly at the sun can cause permanent damage to your eyes.
Wishing you an extra sunny trip later this month to
Walt Disney World Resort!
Have a great Disney day.
