We are going on a family Disney trip and we are taking my one year old for the first time in December. Does he need to have a reservation in order to get in since we are not buying him a ticket since he is under the age of 3? Or can he enter with us?

Hello there, Jasmine. Welcome to planDisney!

I’m delighted to hear you’re planning a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth with your little one. How exciting that it will be his first visit to the Disneyland Resort. There is something truly magical about experiencing Disney through your child’s eyes. I still remember my children’s first time riding Dumbo the Flying Elephant and visiting Mickey Mouse at his house in Toontown. They’re young adults now but I can still vividly recall these precious memories as though they happened yesterday.

Since children under 3 years of age do not need theme park tickets for entry to visit Mickey Mouse and his Pals, theme park reservations will also not be needed. So Hakuna Matata; it means “no worries” as you continue planning your upcoming trip.

I hope this information is helpful for you, Jasmine. If you have more trip-planning questions, feel free to write us again. We’re all EARS!

    Have a magical day,
    Kiki

Meet the Panelist: Kiki, California

Greetings! I have been fascinated by the magic of Disney since I was a little girl; now that I am a mother of two, I love watching my children experience Disney Parks through their own eyes. I am also surrounded by fellow Disney-loving nurse friends whom I enjoy quick adults-only Disneyland Resort escapes or Disney Cruise Line voyages with. Whether you are planning your once-in-a-lifetime family trip or a short adults-only getaway to the Happiest Place on Earth, I am here to help!
