Our family is going to Disney in March. We love the Haunted Mansion ride, but my kids are terrified by the first part. Is it possible to go straight onto the ride and bypass the "scary room"?

Hi Melissa!  I understand about that first "scary" room. I still can remember my first time on that attraction many, many years ago and being scared to death. Of course now it is nothing but for a child it can be intimidating!

You can ask a cast member who is at the attraction if you can use the handicap entrance as that will bypass the room. However, this is really only for those guests in wheelchairs who wish to ride so not sure if that will work for you. You can understand that the policy is in place for a reason and if every family came and asked it would be chaotic.

Your other choice is to just talk with the kids and have them close their eyes and hold their hands over ears kind of thing. I know this isn't a great solution but sometimes talking them through the scary parts will do the trick. I know we still need to do that with our grandson when we take him and for some rides it is still a flat out NO when we try to get him on rides. I guess everything can't be too easy on us parents and grandparents when we take kids on a vacation!
