Me and my family are going to disney for the first time this sunday 5/27 thru 5/31 /12. I am looking to find out how much spending money i may need. Not a conservative number but what it may cost to buy the kids those "I want's " we do have the d

Spending questions are so tough because it's all so relative.  You mention not wanting a conservative number.  I will tell you that it's quite possible to easily spend hundreds of dollars on souvenirs for your kiddos.  Perhaps the best idea would be to purchase gift cards for each of them.  That way, you can go as liberal as you want.  Gift cards are widely available in Disney's shops.  If you want to go fairly wild, allow each of them $50 per day.  Put that amount on a gift card and allow them to shop as much as you're willing.  The receipts for their purchases will print out a new balance.  Use that as a guideline as to what they have remaining to spend.  Not only will that help to narrow down their purchases, but it could also be used as a budgeting tool to help them learn to prioritize their spending.  I hope that gives you some spending insight, Cara.  Good luck!

I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
