My family is going to Disney for the first time in March. I would like to surprise everyone with one special dinner out. I was thinking about one of the theme places. We only have enough money for one of them. I have 3 boys, 9, 4 and 2. Suggestion?

    Hi there Jessica!

First trips are extra magical!  Be sure to pick up some free, "First Visit" pins at Guest Relations at whichever park you visit first for your entire family.  I think it's a great idea to plan a special meal to celebrate your trip together.  By themed restaurants, I'm guessing you mean character meals.  If that's the case, I recommend Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort.  In my opinion, this is the quintessential character meal at Walt Disney World.  Here, Chef Mickey and the rest of the Fab Five (Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto) will entertain your family as you dine on a wonderful buffet.  There is even an amazing, and super fun dessert buffet, complete with make-your-own sundaes!  The restaurant is conveniently located either a short walk or monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom, which makes it a great choice of venue to end a day at the park.  (You can also head back to the park after dinner to enjoy Wishes and/or Spectromagic.)

If character meals aren't for your family, there are two fantastic, well-themed restaurants at Downtown Disney that are generally a big hit with families.  Rainforest Cafe and TRex both offer large menus with very popular children's selections.  As you can guess, Rainforest Cafe is themed after a Tropical Rainforest, and is filled with trees, waterfalls, animals and colorful, huge fish tanks.  The weather even changes while you are dining as a tropical storm approaches.  (Don't worry, you won't get wet!)  At TRex, your family will dine among dinosaurs and other prehistoric creatures in one of a number of incredibly themed rooms.  The lobby at TRex includes a Build-a-Dino store (owned by Build-a-Bear Workshop), where kids can create their own dino to take home.

Whichever spot you chose for your special evening out, have a wonderful time!
