Welcome to planDisney, Leigha! It is very important to know what
travel documentation is needed prior to your cruise. Without it, you can be denied boarding at the port.
I am unsure which
itinerary you are traveling on, but on a closed-looped cruise (meaning the cruise begins and ends at the same U.S. port) or a one-way cruise to or from the Caribbean or The Bahamas, U.S. Citizens need their original state-issued birth certificate if they do not have a passport. For Guests 16 years of age and older, a physical government-issued photo ID is also required along with the original state-issued birth certificate. Digital/mobile state-issued IDs are not acceptable for sailing.
Once you are onboard, you can store your original state-issued birth certificate in the safe in your stateroom. That way, you do not need to worry about carrying it around and potentially damaging it. I tend to use the safe for my travel documentation, keys, and other important things I do not need while walking around the ship.
Leigha, if you have any other questions, sail back to
planDisney. We are here to help you prepare for your magical vacation onboard Disney Cruise Line.
Adventure is out there!
