My family will be diong a land and sea vacation and I'm wondering what we'll have time to do the morning before we leave for the cruise. Would you suggest a quick park visit or a character breakfast?

It will depend on your ground transfer plans. Are you taking Disney Cruise Line transportation to Port Canaveral? If so, your family will have a designated departure time from your Walt Disney World resort. For example, guests staying at the Grand Floridian depart at 11:15 a.m. for the Disney Wonder and 11:30 a.m. for the Disney Magic.

Official boarding time for the Disney cruise ship is 1:00 p.m., however guests are often able to start boarding by Noon.

If you are securing your own transportation to the port, you should depart no later than 2:30 p.m. as All Aboard is at 4:00 p.m. I would leave much earlier though in case of traffic delays and to get aboard the ship for a boatload of fun! All passengers are required to be at the Muster Drill, therefore you must embark by 4:00 p.m. Port Departure is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.

I strongly suggest arriving to the port by 1:00 p.m. as you’ll be able to go directly to your stateroom, get settled, enjoy lunch and start to explore the ship. This is also a great time to attend to unfinished business such as changing dining times, securing Spa reservations and/or getting the kids set up for the fantastic Youth Programs.

I would suggest planning a relaxing morning at your resort. Sleep in, have breakfast at a location at or near your resort and then enjoy your journey to Port Canaveral. This is a perfect morning to get some extra rest which will be needed after touring Walt Disney World!
