Hi Lyndsay,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for your question. Your family is going to have such a great time celebrating Christmas at Walt Disney World Resort in 2016.
Aside from pitching a tent at
The Campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, the absolute cheapest option for your family would be to request connecting or adjoining rooms at a
Value Resort Hotel. However, while your Resort Hotel will make every effort to honour your request, the availability of connecting or adjoining rooms is not guaranteed. Personally, I’ve found it to be pretty hit-or-miss, especially during busier seasons like the Holidays.
Other options that might be fun for your family would be to stay in a Family Suite at
Disney’s Art of Animation Resort (probably my toddler's favourite Resort Hotel) or at T
he Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. Both rooms sleep up to 6 people, so you’ll need two rooms, BUT, both have either a full kitchen (Cabins) or kitchenette (Family Suite) and plenty of space for your family to spread out. I’ve found that having a kitchen has rapidly become a “must” for our visits to Walt Disney World Resort, one that has really helped us save some money during our visits by having breakfast (and even some lunches) in our room. It helps make the “splurge” on fun dinners at night that much sweeter.
Please don’t hesitate to come back and visit us if you need more tips and tricks for planning your upcoming Christmas visit!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
