My family of 5 and my cousins family of 5 will be going to Disney Dec. 27th thru Jan 1st. We are looking for something special to do New Years Eve. What would you recommend?

That will depend upon how you feel about crowds, Marci.  If you don't mind standing shoulder to shoulder with a few thousand perfect strangers then you can probably catch some spectacular fireworks at the Magic Kingdom.  On New Years Eve 2010 they had a special holiday edition.  It was awesome!  But, psst, here's a secret for you: they ran the same show the night before New Years Eve for those who wanted to see it without battling throngs of people.  And even better news?  It is viewable from nearby resort beaches, namely Grand Floridian and Disney's Polynesian.  Perhaps instead of visiting a theme park that day your group might eat a nice dinner in one of the signature dining locations and follow it up with a visit to Cirque du Soleil.  Afterwards, you could catch the fireworks show and then call it a {happy} new year!

Given your inclination to plan a magical trip, I can already tell we have a lot in common. I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
