Ahoy, Marcy!
Thanks so much for sailing back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm excited that you and your pirate crew are thinking about taking a high-seas adventure with Captain Mickey and his friends! You will love setting sail to exotic places while being surrounded by Disney magic every nautical mile of the way!
I'm sorry to hear that you and your daughter are prone to seasickness. I completely understand that you don't want the motion of the ocean to get in the way of your fun onboard! I'm happy to share with you some of my thoughts on ways you can address this.
First, I recommend talking to your doctor about taking an over-the-counter medication that is used to treat motion sickness, such as Dramamine. If your physician approves this plan, I recommend you start taking it a couple days before your cruise sets sail, so it's in your system by the time the ship is on her way! Also, choosing a stateroom in the middle of the ship and on the lower (or middle) decks will help you both feel less of the ship's movement. Finally, I recommend getting your feet wet by first setting sail on itineraries that stay close to the border of the United States, such as the
Alaskan,
Canadian,
California Coast or
Bahamian voyages.
Marcy, I'm so excited for your entire family to experience a Disney Cruise Line adventure! I'm wishing you an unforgettable time sailing on calm waters!
