My family is considering a Disney trip in early December and would like some more information about the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. If we do not get tickets and go to MK on a MVMCP day, can we stay for the 1st firework show?

Hi there, Trisha! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I’m so excited that you’re already getting started on planning for a trip around the holidays with your family! Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is an amazing way to celebrate the holiday season with your loved ones, and an incredible celebration for all ages at the Magic Kingdom! With special entertainment, themed fireworks spectaculars, treats and character experiences, you are sure to have an incredible time!

You can still choose to visit Magic Kingdom Park on the day they will be hosting Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, but you will be expected to exit the Park no later than 7 pm. Thus, you will not be able to watch the special themed fireworks. In my experience, Cast Members begin dispensing wristbands around 4 pm, and as the official party start time of 7 pm draws near, will begin checking closely for the wristbands and kindly asking guests who do not have them to either show a Park Ticket or exit the Park.

Now, if you plan to attend the Party only, you may enter the Magic Kingdom beginning at 4 pm without using a regular Park ticket for that day! Many people choose to do that, and are able to enjoy a few hours in the Magic Kingdom before the Party starts! Personally, my family and I like to make this a slow, relaxing morning around our Resort Hotel, and enjoy some relaxation and pool time before getting ready for an amazing evening in The Most Magical Place on Earth!

Trisha, themed Parties at Walt Disney World are an amazing way to enjoy seasonal celebrations with loved ones. I urge you to consider attending the Party, or if you choose not to, I’d recommend perhaps visiting another Theme Park that day in order to not have your visit cut shorter than you would like!

Thanks so much for bringing us your question, Trisha, and please do not hesitate to come back to see us anytime we can help sprinkle so magic into your Disney plans!

    See ya real soon!
