Family of 4 coming to WDW Sep 19-25. Just booked trip 1 week ago & having terrible time getting dining reservations setup. Don't know what to do? Any suggestions? Can't get a character breakfast :( for our 9 yr old son's very 1st trip.

Although September is a great time to visit Walt Disney World you are now experiencing the effects of the Free Dining offer taking place during that time.  Many guests have made advanced dining reservations for their vacation and since that can be done 90 days our from arrival things have filled up quickly!

Try dining at off times like having a late lunch or early dinner and pairing that with a brunch or mid morning breakfast.  Try for spots that might not tend to be as popular such as the Morocco or China restaurant in EPCOT.  Don't forget to also look at all the resort dining locations as some of them are the best on property.  Check out the Swan and Dolphin hotels as well.  If you are not able to get reservations please remember that the parks have some wonderful counter service restaurants.  Our favorite place to eat for instance at the Animal Kingdom park is Flametree Barbecue!

If you are not able to get any character dining then head to EPCOT for what I consider one of the best character meet and greets on property.  This location is to the right of the large Future World fountain just inside that building. The line is inside so if it is hot it is still a comfortable place to wait.  YOu will have the opportunity to meet and have pictures taken with most of the major Disney characters.  There are usually about 8 of them so it is a worthy wait.  I do try to arrive when the park opens and head there first before doing any attractions.

Keep trying and calling dining reservations to see if anything opens up but  in any case you will have a wonderful vacation.  A great time to relax and enjoy the magic!
