My Family and I are coming to WDW Jan. 11 through to the 16th, 2016. My mother, wIth Cancer, and my two year old I'm lost on how to plan activities and which ones are best to make the memories last. Any ideas

Sharon, I am sure this will be a very special trip for all of you. Being a grandmother myself there is nothing more special then to see Disney through the eyes of a grandchild. This is such a loving gift to your mother and child and you will be blessed with forever memories.

Start by opening a My Disney Experience account. It is very easy and just follow directions on the Disney website, www.disneyworld.com. Look for the little blue Mickey head icon.  Once you have done this it is time to make some dining reservations for each day. Definitely choose one character meal. Chef Mickey is a good one where you see the fabulous five main Disney characters. If you have a little princess then perhaps the Akershus option in Epcot's Norway would be the best choice.

Try to choose dining where you plan on spending the day or at your resort. It can be exhausting moving from one location to another and I am sure your mother will appreciate not having to be on the go constantly. Plan time for rests and naps in the afternoon and return to parks in the evening. Definitely take time to see the Magic Kingdom fireworks and parades as well as the Illuminations laser and fireworks in Epcot. If your budget can afford it I strongly recommend looking into a fireworks or Illuminations cruise for one evening. It is both relaxing and magical and you will be the only ones on the pontoon boat.

Don't worry about doing every attraction in every park. Choose a slow pace and enjoy the atmosphere. My mother later in life loved just sitting and even people watching. She enjoyed the shows such as Lion King in Animal Kingdom and the individual country street shows in Epcot. Make sure you get the Memory Maker package where you can take all the photos taken home with you to enjoy. And remember, plan where to go each day and your dining, but don't stress about trying to do it all. Just walking around and enjoying the visible magic will be special for both you and your mother and your two year old.
