me and my family is coming to wdw for the first time in may1,2011 we will not be staying on property. what type of dinning should we do since we can not get dinning plan and we would love to dine with the character a couple of times

Even though you are staying off property and cannot purchase the Disney Dining Plan, you are still able to dine in all the same wonderful locations, including Character Dining!  You will just need to pay as you go.

I suggest making a list of locations you would like to dine at, and when you reach your booking window (180 days out) call (407)WDW-DINE to make your Advance Dining Reservations.   You can dine at any location in the resorts, theme parks, or Downtown Disney (theme park admission required to dine in the parks.)

Have fun finding restaurants that your entire family will enjoy!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is sailing with Disney Cruise Line, running (or cheering!) at runDisney events, taking hula lessons at Aulani, or vacationing at the Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. I am proud to be a part of the planDisney team and cannot wait to share my tips and advice for a magical vacation
