Ahoy there, Ty! Thank you for
paddling up to planDisney with your
fintaststic question.
My sons fished for the first time at the Fishin' Hole at Ol' Man Island at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. Our guide was so patient and as excited as we were when one of my sons caught his first fish. He taught them a lot, including Disney's commitment to catch-and-release.
Dockside fishing is available at Port Orleans - Riverside and
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. For these experiences, you can
get schooled by a Cast Member with tips for catching (and releasing) largemouth bass. They will provide the gear needed to fish, including life vests, which are required for Guests 12 and younger and recommended for everyone. The Bike Barn at Fort Wilderness is typically open between 9 am and 5 pm for gear rental. Guests are not permitted to use their own for dockside fishing.
If you have fishing gear you would like to use, the Cast Member I spoke with recommended a fishing excursion. On these guided tours, the fishing team can inspect your gear and determine whether you may use it. These excursions take to the water in cool boats and everything you need if you want to just
go with the flow.
We'll be at
Walt Disney World Resort at about the same time as you. I cannot wait to enjoy the recreation in this area. I am especially excited about
Chip 'n' Dale's Campfire Sing-A-Long. My favorite mischievous chipmunks AND roasted marshmallows? That's a combination that will
reel me in every time.
If you have any other questions about your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth,
throw us a line at
planDisney. We'll do our best to help you put the
fin-ishing touches on your vacation.
Just Keep Swimming!
