Hello, Mia. Welcome to planDisney. It's a pleasure to answer your first question!
The
water parks at the
Walt Disney World Resort are sometimes overlooked and that's a shame because they are just as immersive, detailed, and incredibly fun as the 4 theme parks. There's
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park, where you can board the
Chairlift to the summit of Mount Gushmore so that you can go down
Summit Plummet, the
Slush Gusher, or
Teamboat Springs. And then, you have
Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, where
Miss Adventure Falls feels more like a full-blown attraction than "just a water slide" and you can swim in North America's largest wave pool,
Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool!
At this time, we are unsure of which water park will be open in September 2024, though it will likely continue to be Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park (not yet confirmed). We also can't be sure if both of the water parks will be open then either. However, for the past few years, once one water park opens, the other one closes. In fact, this
just happened in March. So while we won't know for sure unless Disney announces it, it is highly unlikely that both will be open in September. But, you never know, so follow along with the
Disney Parks Blog leading up to your trip!
Mia, did you know that when you visit in September,
Tiana's Bayou Adventure will be open in
Magic Kingdom Park?
Its grand opening will be June 28, 2024 and that will give you the chance to get a good splash in the middle of a theme park! I cannot wait to experience this attraction as it's bound to be beautiful, thrilling, and a great way to cool off on a hot Orlando day! And speaking of cooling off in a theme park, don't miss
Kali River Rapids in
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. Each time I'm on that one, I get completely and totally drenched, so either plan to bring a change of socks or slip off your sneakers and put on some sandals before riding. Because while I love a good rapids ride, I do
not particularly enjoy wet and squishy socks!
Have the best time at the water park and enjoy the rest of your vacation as well. If you have any other questions,
don't hesitate to reach out!
Get your head out of the clouds and back in the water where it belongs,
Matt
