My family and I are coming to Disney at the end of December and over new years. I purchased 4 day ticket with 1 park a day. Dec 30-Jan 5. Is this a date based multi day ticket? Will I need to also make a park reservation for new years eve?

Hi Jeri! Welcome to planDisney, where Guests like you share tips and insights to help you plan an unforgettable Walt Disney World vacation. Visiting during the holiday season is such an incredible experience! The parks are decked with breathtaking decorations, and celebrating New Year’s Eve at Walt Disney World is a magical way to ring in the new year with your family.

To answer your first question, yes, your 4-day, 1 Park Per Day ticket is a date-based multi-day ticket and, therefore, doesn't require theme park reservations, as the specific date range you’ve selected is tied to the tickets and acts as a reservation. This means you don’t need to make separate Disney Park Pass reservations for your visit, including New Year’s Eve; your tickets already have you covered!

Now, for New Year’s Eve, while no park reservation is required, planning ahead for this highly popular holiday is essential. To ensure entry, I recommend arriving early and planning to stay in the park through the afternoon and into the night as the clock approaches midnight. Though it’s not common for Disney theme parks to reach capacity, it does happen occasionally during major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve. Being early will help secure your spot and let you enjoy the festive atmosphere all day long.

If you’d like help planning your New Year’s Eve experience, I’ve got you covered! Depending on which park you’re visiting, consider starting the day with a character breakfast at a nearby Disney Resorts Collection hotel like Chef Mickey’s (Disney’s Contemporary Resort) or Topolino’s Terrace (Disney’s Riviera Resort) or inside the park like The Crystal Palace (Magic Kingdom) for a memorable sit-down meal. Midday, take a break to relax and recharge. Maybe catch a show like For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration at Disney’s Hollywood Studios or Festival of the Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. For dinner, EPCOT’s Rose & Crown Dining Room or Magic Kingdom’s Be Our Guest Restaurant provides delicious meals and immersive atmospheres. As midnight approaches, find a spot to take in the fireworks or nighttime spectacular that will make your night and visit truly unforgettable!

I hope this answers your questions, Jeri! If you’d like help planning your New Year’s Eve in more detail, don’t hesitate to send another question my way. Have a fantastic time at Walt Disney World, and enjoy ringing in the new year with your family!
