Hi! Me and my family are coming in April and we have 11 people in our family. Our 3 year old who is turning 4 in February was granted a Make-a-Wish. We want to do character dining, but are worried about our party size. What is best way to get spots?

Hey there, Anthony, and welcome to planDisney!

Like our girl Asha, your family's made a wish upon a star, and now it's being granted. I'm so excited for you and your sweet baby to create some magical memories together. I'm no stranger to making Advance Dining Reservations for parties of more than 10. While it can definitely be a bit of a challenge, we'll take it on together.

The booking window for your family's dining needs opens exactly 60 days before your arrival date. Wake up bright and early, as those reservations become available at approximately 6 AM Eastern Standard Time. In your My Disney Experience app, tap the center icon at the bottom of the screen. Choose the Check Dining Availability option. From there, you'll be able to choose your party size, the date, the time, and the area of the Walt Disney World Resort where you'd like your reservation. When the list of restaurants appears, tap the Filters icon. Under Table Service, you'll be able to select Character Dining to refine your search. From there, you choose a location and follow all prompts until you've locked that meal down for your family of stars.

Pro-tip: If you're still feeling a bit nervous, grab a buddy and both of you in your separate My Disney Experience app can book 2 reservations at the same restaurant as close together in time as possible, i.e., a group of 5 and a group of 5. When it's time to dine, arrive at the restaurant at least 15 minutes before your reservation and speak to the Cast Member at the podium, and explain the situation. While there are no guarantees you'll be seated together, I've personally experienced Cast Members do their very best to accommodate.

Anthony, look up at the stars and let them guide you back to see me here at planDisney! I'd love to chat more about your baby's favorite characters and see if we can figure out the perfect Character Dining options for your family. Also, be sure to contact your wish organization. A little help from them and a little help from us goes a long way towards your dream coming true.

    Happy planning!
