We have a family of 5 with children ages 11,9 and just 3 when we plan on coming to wdw. would we be able to stay at a moderate resort with 2 queen beds and add a small cot or pack and play for the 3 year old? Or do we have to book a suite

    Hi Pamela,

Congratulations on your upcoming trip to Walt Disney World!  When choosing which Resort hotel to stay in for a family of 5, you have 2 choices from the Moderate Resort hotel category.  The first choice is a cabin at Fort Wilderness.  These cabins sleep 6 and are priced similarly to a Family Suite from the Value Resort hotel category.  The second choice is a room in the Alligator Bayou section of Port Orleans - Riverside.  These rooms at Port Orleans - Riverside have 2 queen beds and 1 bunk sized pull down (Murphy style) and can sleep 5 comfortably.  The Port Orleans - Riverside rooms cost the same as the other Moderate rooms that sleep 4 and are usually less expensive than a Family Suite, plus you have all of the added benefits of the Moderate Resort amenities.

Each family has their own hotel preferences, but my pick is Port Orleans - Riverside.  The Port Orleans Resort hotels are my favorite of the Moderate Resort hotel category.  They boast lush landscaping that has a definite deluxe feel to it.  The Port Orleans Resort hotels are a great value because you get upscale theming but only pay Moderate Resort prices.  There are a limited amount of rooms at Port Orleans - Riverside that sleep 5 people, so if this Resort interests you I advise you to make your reservation as soon as you know your dates.

Thank you for your question Pamela!  If you have any other vacation planning questions, please come back and visit us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.  We love to help other Guests plan their MAGICAL vacations!
