We are a family of 6 children, their ages are 19,16,13,6.We hope to visit Disney World this year the week of Memorial Day any tips for this time,Is this a bad time to visit, tight budget, how do we make the most of our trip?I'm overwhelmed.

    Hi Michelle!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Planning a first visit to the Walt Disney World Resort is so exciting! There is so much to see and do that the whole family will be able to find many attractions and entertainment offerings that they enjoy. I have visited over the Memorial Day holiday in the past, and while crowds may be a bit larger than usual, I have still had a delightful time!

Whenever my family travels, we are always very budget-conscious. When we stay at the Walt Disney World Resort, we try to book rooms that fall into the “Value” category. Our favorite value resort is Disney’s Pop Century Resort. If we do decide to stay onsite, we typically book a vacation package that includes tickets and one of the Disney dining plans. We usually participate in the Disney Dining plan that allows each of your party members 1 Quick-Service Meal, 1 Table-Service Meal, and two snacks per person, per night of your package stay. This allows us to have most of our meals paid for before we even arrive and takes some of the stress of out of pocket cost away.

We also have stayed offsite in a vacation home before since we also have a large family. Staying offsite typically helps to cut down on cost as you can generally find a reasonable rate. To save some money, we tend to cook some meals at the house and take a day or two to play in the pool.

To make the most out of your vacation, make sure that you book your dining reservations in advance. Dining reservations can be made approximately 180 days in advance of your stay. You can also make FastPass+ selections starting 60 days in advance of your visit if you are staying at the Walt Disney World Resort, or 30 days in advance if you are staying outside of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Please come back and visit us soon with more of your vacation planning questions! We love to help Guests just like you!
