hi! My family and I are going to be camping in tents at fort wilderness. We might be arriving earlier than the 1 p.m check in time and was wandering if we could get our park passes for that day and go to a park for a few hours before check in?

    Crystal:

You'll have no problem getting your park passes for the day prior to check-in at Fort Wilderness!  When you visit the Outpost and its reservations desk, you'll be given your park passes and a folder with a map of the fort and guidemaps to the parks.  If your site is not ready when you check in, you'll be given a business card with a phone number you can call later in the day to get your campsite!

In the meantime, just park your car and gear in the overflow parking next to the Outpost, and you can hop on one of the buses to the parks at the bus stop adjacent to the parking lot.  (Keep in mind, though, that if you want to go to the Magic Kingdom, you'll want to take one of the internal buses--the orange line is the quickest--to The Settlement bus stop.  From there, walk the 50 yards or so to the pier and take the boat to Magic Kingdom.)

Wishing you a magical vacation--with clear skies to enjoy the fort!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
