We are a family of 5 on a budget. I want to stay at a wdw resort and my military husband wants to stay at the Shades of Green for $ reasons. Was wondering if the dw resort would let us stay for a few days and stay a few days at Shades. Best of both worlds

You are free to stay wherever you want during your Walt Disney World vacation.  I've stayed at Shades of Green in the past and found it to be a great experience.  Of course, I completely understand your wish to stay at a Disney resort; they have a way of infusing magic into your stay!  The good news is that guests at Shades of Green are eligible for most of the perks offered to Disney resort guests.  As a Shades of Green guest, you will be permitted to take advantage of Extra Magic Hours.  Of course, as with all guests who visit Walt Disney World, you can also use Disney transportation.  Shades of Green does operate their own transportation system though and you may find that to be just as efficient.  One thing you'll want to keep in mind is that certain perks will not be available once you leave the Disney resort hotel.  The Disney Dining Plan, for instance, is only available to guests who purchase a Magic Your Way package which includes resort accommodations, and tickets.  You may also be required to pay for parking at the theme parks, if you have a vehicle.   I'm sure your trip will be fabulous whichever route you choose!  Have fun!

I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
