Our family (2 boys 10 & 7 when we go) are planning a trip to WDW. We plan to stay a few nights at Animal Kingdom. To help with cost, we want to stay the other nights at a WDW hotel that is less expensive. What would you recommend? Is one close to MK?

Hi Raina! Many guests split their Walt Disney World stays between two resorts. Disney will assist you in transferring your luggage too if you don't have your own car to make the transition easy.

Finding an inexpensive resort close to the Magic Kingdom will be the tough part. There are four resorts in the Magic Kingdom area but they are all in the Deluxe level meaning they will also be the most expensive. The only moderate resort that has easy boat access to that park would be the Fort Wilderness resort where you can book a cabin. But that would be more expensive then booking a single room somewhere else.

Explore the different Disney Resorts that are available. My favorite moderate resort is the Port Orleans Riverside. The location is good and I like the amenities and the fact you can take a boat to Disney Springs too. My favorite value resort would be Pop Century. It is family oriented and I have always had great visits there.

The Value and Moderate resorts will not be close to the parks but they will all offer the complimentary transportation. So just plan a few extra minutes in reaching your destinations and enjoy a new experience at a new resort. I know you will have fun at the Animal Kingdom Lodge too.
