Hi there! My family and I are booked on a 6 night cruise out of Port Canaveral on Nov. 6. I am wondering if there was a formal night? I forget if you get a schedule ahead of time telling you what nights are what dress code. Thanks!

Hello there, Alexandra! Thanks for cruising back to us at planDisney. We're so happy to have you here.

Your family has some exciting plans just ahead on the horizon. One of my very favorite cruises was a Very Merrytime sailing on the Disney Fantasy. The ship will be decked from bow to stern, the Disney Characters will be wearing festive outfits, and the entertainment will be jolly! Keep an eye out for the gingerbread cookie decorating. My family found it to be both fun and delicious.

When it comes to the suggested dress attire for your voyage, you will not receive a schedule prior to sailing. This information can be seen on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app once you step onboard the ship. Alternatively, you can call or chat with an agent at Disney Cruise Line to inquire, or you can ask us at planDisney and we will do our best to let you know what to expect.

For your specific sailing, you can expect two optional "dress up" nights where many guests will wear semi-formal attire. If you'd prefer, you are always welcome to wear cruise casual clothing in the main dining rooms. It's very likely that a Pirate Night will be scheduled for your itinerary as well. You'll see quite a few guests donning their buccaneer best, so pack your pirate clothing if you'd like to join in the fun. Pirate clothing and accessories are also available for purchase onboard.

With this being a holiday-themed sailing, many guests will be wearing festive clothing. I saw plenty of Christmas sweaters, Santa hats, and even holiday pajamas during my sailing! Plenty of families packed matching Christmas pajamas to take pictures with Santa Claus. It was really cute. There are a variety of great photo opportunities for holiday cards and memory books. If you are interested in purchasing a photography package, you can do so in advance of your sailing date to enjoy a discount.

Alexandra, if you'd like to hear more details about Very Merrytime sailings, you can watch or listen to episode three of the planDisney podcast. Near the very end of the podcast, I shared more about sailing during the holiday season aboard the Disney Cruise Line. I hope it helps you get even more excited about your upcoming vacation!

    Have a holly, jolly time!
