If my family book an ADR for 4 but only 3 of us want to eat is that permitted? My Dad is ridiculously picky and I know there are a couple of character meals that we want to do for my DD where there is nothing he will eat. Thanks!

Hello again Lynn and welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
I can totally relate to your delicious Disney dining question as each family seems to have a picky eater amongst their ranks and in mine it's usually our youngest daughter or sometimes even my big brother!
Dining with Disney Characters whilst on holiday at Walt Disney World Resort is sure to be a magical experience for your whole family to enjoy and of course your lovely Dad won't want to miss out on all the wonderful excitement and practically perfect in every way photo opportunities.  Plus I do think that it is a great decision to arrange your families Advanced Dining Reservations for Character Dining up to 180 days ahead of time as often these meals are very popular with many Guests.
In my own experience of dining with fussy eaters in Disney restaurants I'm happy to share that we've always discovered a happy medium which suits everyone in our family.  Our solution was to simply explain to the Cast Member at the podium before seating us that a member of our party was a picky eater and we also enquired if there was an alternative menu available which would mean that everyone in our party could dine together; menu alternatives could include items such as plain pasta, grilled cheese sandwiches and so on.
In my personal experience we've found Cast Members to be both welcoming and accommodating of everyone's needs, but it is worth remembering that menu alternatives may not be available in all dining locations.
I also thought you may find these Dining Reservations ~ Frequently Asked Questions to be an extra useful planning resource.
    Have a great Disney day.
