My family will be arriving in Orlando on a Sat. afternoon, we are staying off WDW property, I do not want t use a day of our passes for only a half day. Are there any atteractions or activities we should do/see our first day outside of the parks?

We almost always go to Chef Mickey's on our first night. With a dining reservation, you'll find convenient parking at the Contemporary Hotel. Before or after dinner, visit the shops in the hotel. Then take a round trip ride on the monorail.

Another suggestion would be to go to Downtown Disney. Enjoy shopping and dining but keep in mind that it will be busier on a Saturday.

You could also make dining reservations (or eat at the counter service) at the Grand Floridian and then watch the fireworks from the boat dock. Or likewise, watch Wishes from the beach at the Polynesian.

I hope you have a wonderful time.
