Hi! My family is arriving for our first trip to Disneyworld on July 1, at approximately 5 p.m. We are staying at the Dolphin. We arrive on my son's 9th birthday and we would like to take him to one of the parks that evening. Which do you recommend?

    Hiya Denise!

Yay! Congratulations on your first trip to Disney World!

My family, including my 10 year old son & 7 year old daughter, love staying at the Walt Disney World Dolphin Resort. You will be in a fabulous location; close to Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios & The Boardwalk.

In between the Swan & Dolphin hotels is a boat dock where you can hop on the boat for a ride to Epcot or Hollywood Studios. For Epcot, you are brought to the back entrance which opens into the World Showcase. You can also walk to both Parks on lovely landscaped paths. But during hot weather I like the boat where you can catch a breeze.

If your little boy is like mine and enjoys Star Wars, then I suggest getting on the boat & heading to Disney's Hollywood Studios where you can see the Star Wars ride Star Tours before it closes September 8th for reimagining. You might even be able to catch the Jedi Training Academy where a Jedi Master trains kids how to use a light saber to battle the Dark Side! There is usually a line for kids to get into so they can participate.  Another bright spot there for my son is the Indiana Jones stunt show. Toy Story Mania ride is so much fun and a must ride!

    Have a great trip!
