We are a family of 4 adults with reservations in January. Our Mom is 90 years old, and she and another member of our party cannot walk for long distances. What is the best option for visiting the parks and avoiding the lines at the rides?

Welcome back, Carol! You picked a great time to visit Walt Disney World. Historically, the crowd levels in January are low, so you shouldn't encounter long lines this time of year.

I would recommend taking advantage of FastPass+. If you haven't already, you should log-in to your My Disney Experience account and reserve your 3 FastPass+ selections. After your first 3 FastPass+ experiences have been used, you can make an additional selection at a nearby FastPass+ kiosk. In my experience, the wait time for popular attractions is significantly reduced and is a great option for members of your party that might have trouble standing for long periods of time.

Our last vacation was the first time in many years that my mother had joined us in the parks, and she quickly realized that she wouldn't be able to walk as much as she used to. She ended up renting an Electric Conveyance Vehicle (EVC) and it helped her immensely as well as kept our family together throughout the vacation. Also, If your mother has her own EVC or wheelchair she is welcome to bring and use it in the parks.

Feel free to return with any other questions you may have, and have a magical Walt Disney World vacation!

We love all things Disney and when we aren’t watching Disney films or planning our next vacation, we love to go to touring Disney shows. I also love to cook, listen to music, read books, and paint. With my experience planning vacations and navigating the parks from a single parent’s perspective, I hope to be able to add a little “pixie dust” to your vacation! Learn More About Sarah
