Family of 6 (2 adults and 4 kids, 11, 9,8 and 5) going to WDW end of July 2013 for 7 days. Booked for deluxe room-club level at Boardwalk Inn. We like the proximity to parks, but not space. Other option-Old Key West. Like space, but not proximity. Advice?

Hi Paula! I agree that the Boardwalk resort is in a great location. The Yacht Club is my choice when I visit for the same reason....I am within walking distance to two parks and enjoy the lights and festivities of the Boardwalk area at night.

However, with a family of six you will want more then one bathroom and if I was to choose a villa resort it likely would be either Old Key West or the Beach Club Villas.  Old Key West is the oldest villa resort on property but they have refurbished it and the villas are the largest on property. If you can book a two bedroom you will be amazed at the size of the unit and the ability to "escape" from each other now and then. The living area has sleeping options and is quite large as well as the adjoining kitchen facilities. There is a large deck to enjoy the mornings and evenings outside. One bedroom has two queen beds and a bath and the master bedroom is huge with a king and a large bath. There are laundry facilities right in your unit making it easy to pack less and just throw some things in every evening if you need.

Your only downside to the Old Key West villas is that you will need to take a bus to all parks. There is an internal system that will pick you up close to your unit and take you to the front of the resort where you can then hop on a park bus. The pools and grounds are beautiful and it is a very relaxing atmosphere compared to the Boardwalk business. The Club Level rooms are quite nice and with that you can enjoy snacks and basic foods for breakfast and evening. We have stayed often on Club Level and really the only benefit is the easy breakfast. We always seem to be in the parks for the evening fare. You can easily purchase simple breakfast foods for your villa and do the same in a less expensive way.

I have given you some things to consider. In the end it is a very personal choice but if I had to travel with a large family I would book the Old Key West Villas.
