We are a family of 6 ( 2 adults, 1-girl 6, 3 boys 15, 14, 11) planning a vacation to WDW in June. We have invited my sister and her family( 2- adults, 2-girls and 1-boy, ages 9-13) . What will be the best route for us to take? I need help badly.

    Yolanda:

Hello to a fellow Mississippian! We have a family of 6, so we don't always fit into Disney's standard 4-to-a-room vacation plans.  But over the years, we've found what works best for us!

If you're on a budget, the most economical way to stay at Disney is two standard rooms at a Value Resort like All-Star Sports, especially for boys. But for just $25 or so extra a day, you can book a family suite at All-Star Music. Not only do you get a kitchenette with refrigerator and microwave, you'll enjoy a living area, wonderful for visiting with family.

If you're willing to spend a little more, consider getting a cabin at Fort Wilderness which sleeps 6. Although it only has one bath instead of the family suite's two, it's full-size kitchen, dining area, beds instead of thick cots along with grill and outside deck, allow lots of running-around room for the kids. The resort offers a free campfire singalong with Chip 'n' Dale and a relaxed atmosphere.

A pricier option is a deluxe room that sleeps 6 at Boardwalk Inn, the Contemporary, or Wilderness Lodge. These accommodations come with access to the Concierge levels of the hotel and will make you feel like a VIP.  You can also consider a Grand Villa to fit both families at the DVC properties or get two 2-bedroom villas. Old Key West is the most economical but Bay Lake Towers is my favorite with outstanding views.

After you choose your resort, come back to us and we'll help you beginning thinking about your dining options!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
