Is there any way for families without a group of 10 or more to participate in Kingdom Keepers at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom? My daughter loves the series but we are not part of a group!

Jennifer, thank you so much for your excellent question! My 10-year-old is also a fan of Ridley Pearson's Kingdom Keepers book series (and I must admit that I am, as well).

Walt Disney once said, "Our greatest natural resource is the minds of our children," and he believed in educating the generation of tomorrow. Disney Youth Programs began at Walt Disney World in 1979, and since then it has expanded to dozens of offerings that try to engage kids in unique ways. The Kingdom Keepers Quest is a self-guided interactive program based on the popular series that involves problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Unfortunately, the Cast Member I spoke to said it is meant solely for youth organizations of 10 or more such as Scout troops, church youth groups, schools, and homeschool groups.

I do have a couple of suggestions for you and your daughter, however. Birnbaum's Walt Disney World 2014 edition has an exclusive Kingdom Keepers Quest for Magic Kingdom Park (although since it's several years old, some information is probably outdated). Try checking your local library or Amazon for a copy.

Since your daughter seems to like interactive scavenger hunts, she'd probably enjoy the Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game. My Moms Panel friend, Amy M, loves playing it with her middle school daughter, and she makes sure to pick up a new spell trading card on her trips. Sign up for the game at the Firehouse at Main Street, U.S.A, where you will receive one map and pack of spell cards (there is no charge, as it is included in your theme park admission). Missions last from 20 to 30 minutes, sometimes longer depending on the degree of difficulty.

I hope you and your daughter have a magical vacation, Jennifer!

Hi, I'm Eean from Pennsylvania!  I may have an unusual name, but my passion for Disney is not unique.  It’s amazing how many people you can find who love talking about, "The Most Magical Place On Earth!"  I'm that mom who always has her ears perked at PTO meetings, in the grocery store aisle, or at middle school basketball games waiting for an opportunity to give someone a planning tip to help make their vacation even more magical.
