Hiya, Yim-Ping!
Oh boy! Your Disney Cruise Line vacation must be getting pretty close. Thanks for visiting us here at planDisney to help make sure everything is "practically perfect in every way."
The timing of your question is great, because I've learned from Cast Members that prices of Wireless Internet Access packages were updated across the Disney Cruise Line fleet just last month. As you are aware, there are two options for Internet access. Their prices are as follows.
- Internet Package
- $27 for a 24-hour package
- Multi-day packages starting at $24/day, depending on the length of the cruise
- Good for most regular browsing, social media, email, and more
- Does not include access to long-form video and audio streaming services
- Internet + Streaming Package
- $36 for a 24-hour package
- Multi-day packages starting at $30/day, depending on the length of the cruise
- Includes the same Internet access as the Internet Package, plus access to long-form streaming such as Disney+, ESPN+, Hulu, YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and more
These prices are subject to change. Unfortunately, I don't have exact prices for a 7-night cruise on the Disney Treasure. You'll be able to view exact pricing once you connect to the DCL-GUEST Wi-Fi network onboard. In the meantime, multiplying the starting price for multi-day packages by the number of nights of your cruise and comparing that with the price of a 24-hour package multiplied by the same number of nights would give you an approximate range for length-of-cruise Internet packages that would be within about $20 of the actual price for the Internet Package and about $40 for the Internet + Streaming Package.
While we love disconnecting and enjoying the entertainment and activities onboard the Disney Cruise Line, we do sometimes need to maintain a little connectivity for school, work, or other interactions back home. For that, I like the convenience of the WiFi Internet Access packages. Our family members can easily share the same package across different devices, including smartphones, tablets, and laptops. Note that some devices, such as certain handheld gaming devices and specially-provisioned Chromebooks, may not offer full support for activating a purchased Internet package through the required web browser interface. As an engineer who works with similar technology in my regular job, I've been very impressed with the quality and speed of the Internet packages on the Disney Cruise Line. Though, it's worth noting that the satellite connectivity that enables such access does necessarily introduce some expected delay into the connection that may be noticeable in some use cases.
Thanks for your questions here at planDisney, Yim-Ping. I hope you have a wonderful cruise!
