2 families in WDW for 1st time. 3 of 5 kids have bdays then. In DHS on bday and seeing Fantasmic. Advice to make the bdays special? Want fun, good dinner without characters. Made ADR at Brown Derby but is that too staid? Better to go out of park to eat?

    Hi Elizabeth!

Thank you for visiting the Moms Panel!

Have you considered doing a Fantasmic! Dining Package?  This is where you book one of three restaurants at Disney's Hollywood Studios (The Hollywood Brown Derby is one of those restaurants).  Instead of standing in line for the recommended 60-90 minutes to see Fantasmic!, you will be given VIP passes that enable you to arrive at the entrance only 30-40 minutes before showtime.  You can make reservations for this package by calling (407) 939 3463, or online.  I would personally recommend the Hollywood Brown Derby.

You could order a 6-inch birthday cake at the podium, when you arrive for your reservation, or you could order a more elaborate cake by calling the Cake Hotline on (407) 827-2253.  They do require 48 hours' notice.  You may like to see some examples on www.disneyfoodblog.com/disney-world-cakes-faq.

Also, do remember to pick up your free Birthday buttons from the front desk of your Walt Disney World Resort hotel, or Guest Relations at any of the four theme parks.

If you have any other questions, please come back and ask me - I would be happy to help you plan your magical vacation!
