We have 2 families going to WDW but 1 person will be in charge of Genie+ do we have to book under 1 reservations to keep everyone together or can we combine tickets in MDE app after separately booking? We want to keep everything for G+ together.

Hi there, Kari, and welcome to planDisney! I'm thrilled that you've stopped by with this awesome question! It sounds like you are planning a practically perfect vacation to the Most Magical Place on Earth! I'd love to give you some insights and tips about Disney Genie+ Service that will hopefully help you feel more prepared for your upcoming vacation.

When planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation with a large, multi-generational party, the My Disney Experience Mobile App is going to be the Woody to your Buzz Lightyear - in other words, your best friend and trusty guide! I recommend letting one person in each family manage the accounts for everyone in their respective family. Then, the two managers of the profiles can link their accounts in the Family & Friends feature of the app. That means you'll be able to see and make plans for each member of your family and the other family. You can purchase Genie+ separately if you like, and then make your plans together by selecting every person in the party from the Family & Friends list. Here's an example of how this goes for my family:

Family A (two adults, three kids) is managed by me. Family B (two adults, three kids) is managed by my sister. Family C is two grandparents, one of whom doesn't enjoy thrill rides. At 6:30am, I purchase Genie+ for my family and Family C (they're still asleep). My sister purchases Genie+ for Family B. We decide who is going to book what - on this day, I'll attempt to join a Virtual Queue for TRON: Lightcycle/Run and my sister will book our first Genie+ selection for something we can all do together. At 6:59am, I confirm my party of 11 since Grandma doesn't want to ride, and I'll refresh my screen until I am able to join a Boarding Group. My sister simultaneously books our party of 12 for Jungle Cruise. Since we're staying at a Disney Resorts Collection Hotel, we also go ahead and purchase an Individual Lightning Lane for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. I make this purchase for Family A and one member of Family C (too thrilling for Grandma!). My sister makes the purchase for Family B, and we choose a time that we can all ride together.

I hope that this shows you the flexibility and options you have with Genie+ and customizing your party. Your plans also might include Advance Dining Reservations - something I highly recommend with a large party, because it gives you a designated time to sit back and relax together, while refueling for the rest of the day. One last tip I have is to take advantage of Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering in the My Disney Experience App. Each family can place a separate order, but select a similar time frame for pickup. This will decrease your time spent waiting for food when everyone's hungry!

Kari, I hope this is helpful to you. If you need any more recommendations as you plan your vacation, please reach back out to me or any of my pals here at planDisney!

    See you real soon!
