Hello there Carol! Thanks for bringing your question to planDisney.
Oh boy! Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is just a few days away! I understand your concerns and have a few suggestions on how you can divvy expenses.
When dining at a table-service restaurant, simply ask your server to divide the bill into two separate checks, so each family can pay for their own meal. At quick-service dining locations, each family can pay their own way when ordering at the counter.
If you'll be staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel and plan to charge dining or merchandise purchases to your room folio using a MagicBand or
Disney MagicMobile pass, you can stop by the Front Desk at your resort hotel and a Cast Member will be able to assign different credit cards to different bands or passes.
Things get a little trickier when using the
My Disney Experience mobile app. There is so much valuable information in the palm of your hand with the app, including attraction wait times, character greeting locations, maps, directions, Disney PhotoPass photographer locations, and much more. I would think that other members of your party would want to have access to that information. If they do not have their own My Disney Experience account, they will not be able to use the app unless they login using your credentials. If you are comfortable with this that is fine -- my husband and teens do not have their own accounts and simply log in to mine on their devices.
Now let's chat about in-app purchases, such as Disney Genie+ service or Mobile Food & Beverage Ordering. The default payment method will be the credit card stored to your profile. When making in-app purchases, on the payment screen you will see the option to add a Disney Gift Card or Disney Visa Rewards Redemption Card. You will also see the option to "Edit or Change Card". Select "Add a Payment Method" to use a different credit card. You can store up to 6 credit cards to your profile and select which one you would like to use when checking out in the app. If you would like to charge your mobile food, merchandise, or Disney Genie+ purchases to different credit cards, you will need to complete separate transactions. With Disney Genie+, you'll be able to select which Guests from your Family & Friends List you are purchasing the service for.
If any of the adults in your party would like to create their own My Disney Experience account, it is easy to update their profile in your account so any plans you have made for them will migrate to their new account. I have provided
instructions on how to do this in a recent answer to another Guest. Children ages 13 to 17 can create limited access accounts. Children under age 13 cannot have their own My Disney Experience accounts, and it is not possible to delete them from your account while they are included in any active plans. For now, you will still need to manage plans for any Guests under age 13.
While Guests are welcome to set up their My Disney Experience accounts in whatever way works best for them, my suggestion would be for each family unit to create their own account after your travel is completed and manage the members of their own household under that account. If you need any assistance,
contact the My Disney Experience tech team in the UK at 0800 16 90 749.
Carol, I am wishing you a wonderful holiday! Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
