Hello! So this is my families and my first trip to WDW and I was wondering about transportation. We will be staying in one of the resorts and was wondering if the parks were walking distance or if we would need to shuttle. Is there a cost for this?

    Hi Cynthia:

You can get from your Resort to certain Parks by walking, depending on where you are staying and what park you want to go to.  For example, if you are staying at the Contemporary Resort, you can easily walk to the Magic Kingdom (but most folks prefer the monorail).  Or if you are staying at an "Epcot" Resort, such as Yacht or Beach Club or Boardwalk, you can take a short walk to Epcot or a longer walk to Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Because Disney World is a very large property, for the most part, you will not be walking to the various Parks.  The good news is that Disney provides various methods of complimentary transportation, in the form of monorails, busses, and boats, to its Resort Guests that will take you to and from your Resort to various destinations around Walt Disney World property.  One of my favorite aspects of vacationing at Walt Disney World is that we never have to rent a car because of the free internal Disney transportation for Resort Guests.

    Enjoy your vacation.
