This is my families first time @ wdw and I don't know where to start. There will be 3 families going so we will need separate rooms. Please! Help me. Where do I start.

    Hi Trudy!

This is a great question.  The first step is figuring out when you want to go.  Walt Disney World is most crowded when older children are typically out of school which means the summer, spring break, and holidays.  My favorite time of year to go is the first two weeks of December as the parks and resorts are beautifully decorated then and the weather is nice and cool.  My least favorite time to visit is the summer just because of the high heat and humidity in Central Florida.

After you know when you want to go, you can decide where you want to stay.  The three families can stay in the same resort or you can stay in different resorts.  Walt Disney World Resorts can be divided into four categories:
    • Disney Deluxe Villas
    • Disney Deluxe Resorts
    • Disney Moderate Resorts
    • Disney Value Resorts

Deluxe Resorts offer more services and amenities than a Moderate Resort and a Moderate Resort offers more services and amenities than a Value Resort.  Disney Deluxe Resorts also have the best locations generally.  For example, all of the Magic Kingdom monorail resorts are Disney Deluxe Resorts.

Since it is your first time visiting, I highly recommend picking up the tour book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal.  It is a great book for first time visitors as it is full of information, but it is not overwhelming.  It is also a beautiful book full of color photographs.  It will give you a good feel of everything there is to do at Walt Disney World.

Our responses are limited in length, but I hope this helps.  I would be happy to help you; just send questions directly to me or any other panelist!
