Hi Jasmine! Welcome to planDisney. Oh boy! I got so excited to hear that your family gets to experience Disneyland Resort for the very first time!
For any trip, but especially a first trip, I suggest booking a
Disneyland Resort Hotel Package. This is a convenient way to book both your hotel and tickets altogether and gives you more flexibility as a package, should you need to cancel or reschedule.
Out of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels, I would recommend the Disneyland Hotel. I love all the Disney touches from the light-up headboards and hidden Mickeys in the rooms to all the fun artifacts and photos in the lobbies of the buildings. I also love ending a successful day in the parks with a yummy tropical drink from
Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar. Staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel also makes it easy to take a midday break.
If you are strictly about tickets, I think a
3 or 4-day Park Hopper is the perfect amount of time for a first-time visit. The park entrances are just a minute or so walk away from each other which makes park hopping ideal, especially on day three or four when you want to go back and revisit some favorite attractions or foods. Park Hopper tickets require you to reserve a starting park and then you can park hop to the other park after 1:00 p.m.
I see you are wanting to visit in April, which is a very popular time with spring break happening for many families. I suggest you purchase your tickets as soon as you can because your tickets will need theme park ticket reservations in order to enter a park each day. If you are purchasing through the Disneyland website, it will ask you to make your date selections/reservations at check out. You can take a look at the
Theme Park Ticket Availability Calendar to see what days and parks are currently available for each ticket type. Please note that this calendar is fluid, so if there is availability or unavailability for a day right now, there may be something that shows up in a few hours or a few days. Keep checking if you do not see availability right now.
Now once you arrive at Disneyland Park, be sure to head to the left through the tunnel and head straight to the City Hall where you can collect a complimentary "I'm Celebrating..." or "First Visit" button for each of you so everyone else can celebrate your big trip with you!
Jasmine, I want to thank you again for stopping by with your great question. We love helping Guests plan their Disneyland Resort vacations. I hope you and your family have a magical first visit to The Happiest Place on Earth!
