1st Fam Vac!! 7/12-16. Me, DH, DD(13), 3DS(20-9-5). Staying off-site, $ tight, can do 1-2 pk meals-reserve? X hop/water opts. Will 5 yr need stroller? Help-which parks which days to get most out of it, firewks a must, dk what else, please advise.

Hi, Rebekah!  I hope I have caught you in time to help!  Your trip is right around the corner!

Choosing which parks on which days can be a real puzzle.  I often visit and check out the link on the left to their crowd calendar before we decide which parks to go to.  They will give you an idea of the parks to avoid, based on historical attendance, and suggest which ones might be best.  They also rate each day a number from one to 10, to give you an indication of how crowded the parks might be.

Use Fast Pass whenever you can.  That will help minimize your wait time and maximize your fun!

You do not necessarily need to reserve meals.  Many of the sit down restaurants get busy - some even fill up - but there are dozens of counter service restaurants with good food that you won't need reservations for.  EPCOT has some of the best counter service food anywhere at Walt Disney World.  If you do want a sit down meal, call tomorrow to see what may still be available.

My kids stopped using strollers at about age three, but that was a decision based on the fact that once they learned to walk, they hated being in the stroller.  If your five year old is still happy in a stroller, the theme parks do require a great deal of walking, and in the heat of the summer, he may get tired and want to rest in the stroller in between rides and attractions.

    Have a terrific vacation!
