1st Fam trip to WDW - 2 adults & 3 princesses (ages 6, 4 & 3). Where to stay? Car. Beach Resort maybe with a blowup twin mattress for 3 yr. old - is this ok? How is travel time from CBR or the Cabins at Fort Wilderness to Magic Kingdom and other p

Hi Tonya, I get very excited when I hear about people going on their first visit to Walt Disney World - and your children are at an absolutely magical age!

There are some resorts that have rooms which can accommodate five people.  Let me tell you about a new option which I just recently heard about and plan to try later this year:  the family suites at the All Star Music Resort. The family suites sleep up to 6 guests. They have a queen-size bed, a double-size sleeper sofa, 1 convertible sleeper chair, and 1 convertible sleeper ottoman.  The room also has a living room, a mini-kitchen (with microwave and coffee maker) and two bathrooms.  Two bathrooms! That's a great bonus when you are trying to get out of the room in the mornings.  Plus, you can prepare food - or not - the option is yours.

I have also heard that the rooms at the Animal Kingdom Lodge will sleep four plus one child under 3 in a crib...it this fits the description of your family then this could be another great option.

As for travel time, each resort is closer to one theme park or another, but none of them take very long to travel to on the transportation system.  From the All Star resorts (which are situated closer to Animal Kingdom) to Magic Kingdom is about 20 minutes.  It would be about the same from the Caribbean Beach Resort.  The Cabins at Fort Wilderness are closer to the Magic Kingdom and although I have not stayed there I would estimate 10-15 minutes.

I hope this helps Tonya.  You have a lot of great choices - enjoy the magic of your first vacation!

Walt Disney World stole my heart when my parents introduced me to the magic the year it opened. I fondly remember my first 'Mickey Mouse in a Glass House' balloon! I still visit with my parents-and now with my husband and our two teens. Learn More About Lynn
