    My fam is coming for a visit in Jan and I am joining. They booked their trip through delta vacations and their TA is saying it isnt possible to add me to the room without also buying plane and park tickets. can we add me to the room direct thru disney?

    When booking through a third party or travel agent, usually you have to go through them for any changes to your reservation. This would mean having to abide by the rules of their booking. 

    Since I do not have the details of your contract, I do not want to guess what your options are.  Give another call to your travel company to see what they can arrange.  You can always try to call Disney directly at (407)W-DISNEY to see what can be done, but I am guessing they will refer you back to your booking agent.
