Fall 2009 will be our first trip to WDW - 8 days- on dining plan. How do I go about planning dinner reservations for restaurants I don't even know? How do you decide which restaurants to eat at on what days?

It can be overwhelming to plan meals so far out.  It really is the only way to guarantee that your family will be able to eat at the restaurants you want to though, so I highly recommend giving it a try.

A good starting place is to come up with an itinerary.  Decide which parks you will visit on each day of your vacation.  If you will be using the park hopper option, then you can plan to have lunch in one park, and dinner in another.  This works especially well if you will be staying in one of the Epcot area resorts because you can spend most of your day in one park, and then head back to your resort for an evening break.  When dinner time rolls around you can just walk over to Epcot and enjoy a great meal in one of the restaurants of the World Showcase.

I'm getting ahead of myself though.  Let's go back to that itinerary.  Once you've decided on a park for the day, choose a restaurant that is either inside of, or close to, that park.  A visit to allearsnet.com will not only give you a glimpse at which restaurants are located where, but you can even check out the menus on that site ahead of time.

Lastly, when you call to make your dining reservations (at 407-WDW-DINE) the person you speak with will likely be very helpful if you have questions about a restaurant that is close to the Magic Kingdom, for example.  They have a lot of information and they're happy to share, just ask!  Of course, once you plan your itinerary, come back here to ask for specific restaurant recommendations if you get stuck.  We're happy to help too!

I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists. Let's work together to plan a downright dreamy vacation for your family! Learn More About Darcie
