    Hi Faith, My Family and I running the Star Wars Dark Side 10K & Half Marathon. We chose to stay at Beach Club, thinking it may be easier to get to the race. Is walking an option, at least for the Half, or will we need to board a bus to Epcot?

    Hi, Michael! 

    Disney's Beach Club Resort is my favorite resort hotel on Walt Disney World® property, especially for a runDisney race weekend. The location is ideal and the access to so many dining and recreational options make this an excellent choice. I've also stayed in this location eight times during various race weekends, so I'm well versed in race morning logistics from this relaxing, sea-side inspired spot. 

    Walking to the Start Zone Area or corrals will not be an option. Though the location is close to the race action, the only way over there from Disney's Beach Club Resort would be through the International Gateway entrance (back entrance) to Epcot® Theme Park, which will not be open for runners to pass through. And though the resort is in Epcot's backyard, you would be cutting through marsh and woods in the dark if you tried to navigate your way through. Additionally, the corrals themselves are a bit of a distance away from the Start Zone, you'll walk through some backstage areas as well as wooded areas, so following the guided path between the two areas is important. Most importantly, in 2014 runDisney initiated a policy that would disqualify runners for trying to access corrals from neighboring resorts. 

    You will need to take Event Bus Transportation, but the location will make for a one of the quickest bus rides, especially if you head over there early. 

    Another tip: The runner drop-off location and the post-race pick-up location are different! So after the race, do not walk all the way back to where you were dropped off - not that I've ever made that mistake ;) the buses to take you back will be in the Family Reunion Area. Just look for the flag with your resort name on it.
