    Hi Faith! Are spectator packages required to watch WDW marathon weekend events in Jan? Where can people watch and how do they get around for the longer races? Friends will be cheering me on for the Dopey challenge :) Tips are appreciated. Thanks so much!

    You're well on your way to being officially "Dopey!"

    ChEAR Squad Packages are not required - here is my advice for the half and full marathon for your friends to see you along the way. 

    I would love to know where you are staying, this will help me guide your friends on how to get around race morning with road closures and transportation.

    • Your friends will need to travel with you to the start zone to get to any of the viewing locations due to road closures beginning at 5:00am (unless you happen to be at a Monorail Resort, that option will have different directions). 

    • Have your friends take the Monorail at Epcot to the Transportation & Ticket Center. Once there, they will take the Express Monorail to the Magic Kingdom. They can line up along Main Street USA to see you run probably the most magical part of the race behind the finish line. The atmosphere is magical and they will have access to restrooms! They will need to enter Magic Kingdom right at 5:00am to get a good spot. I suggest lining up by the Christmas Tree (it should still be up, hopefully) or right across from the Main Street Confectionary (the course curves here, allowing them to see you coming head on). No theme park ticket or ChEAR Squad package is required along Main Street.

    • Once you've run past your friends, they can have an early breakfast reservation at a Monorail Resort and then take the Monorail back to Epcot to see you at the finish line! 

    • Runner Tracking! Your friends can sign up to track you on the course. Your pace, current time and estimated finish time will be texted at the 5, 10, 13.1, 20 mile marks - making it easier to know when to expect you.
