    Hi Faith D: I hope to run the 10K Dark Side Run through a sponsor charity in April 2016. I don't even know where to begin...like resort recommendations for an Epcot race with ending at ESPN. Are the charity tix legitimate? (It's sold out otherwise)

    Hi, Gwendolyn! 

    I'm happy to hear you want to take on The Dark Side during the inaugural Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend - The Dark Side. I think you'll find running for a cause the perfect way to harness the force. Here are a few tips to help you get started. 

    - From the homepage of the Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend - The Dark Side on the runDisney website, select the REGISTRATION tab. From there, you'll see the Charity Groups tab. Select that link and you will then see a list of all the charities participating in this race. You can then select the link for the charity you are most interested in raising funds for. My son ran the Disneyland 10K for St. Jude's Children's Hospital and we had a great experience working with them. 

    - Each charity is going to have different fundraising requirements, so make sure to select the one that meets your commitment level. Several even offer hotel stays and airfare! 

    - If you need to book accommodations on your own, visit the Special Offers tab on the Walt Disney World Resort website, they just released discounted rates that include this race weekend! My recommendations for Resort Hotels for this weekend include an Epcot Area Resort like Disney's Yacht & Beach Club. Another great option in the value category is Disney's Pop Century Resort. The best news of all is all Walt Disney World Resort Hotels are considered "Host Resorts," meaning you'll have access to event transportation for all race activities, including the runDisney Health & Firness Expo. 

    - Working with a charity is completely legitimate! Just make sure you work with a charity listed as an official charity on the runDisney website. So don't be nervous, you'll find the experience extremely rewarding.
