Hey there, Katie. Thanks for stopping by
planDisney with your question. I see that you are vacationing at
Walt Disney World this spring. I bet you are getting so excited. We visit every year in March for my daughter's birthday and it's such a great time to go. The weather is just perfect.
I know what it's like to have a picky eater! When my daughter was younger, she didn't seem to like anything either.
Chef Mickey's isn't the typical restaurant that you'd normally sit down at and select an entree from a menu. It's an all-you-care-to-enjoy family-style meal served right to your table and a character experience on top of that. Because of those reasons, you will need to pay for your 7-year-old to join in on the fun- even if they don't partake in any of the food. I was taking a look at
the current menu and there are some options that might please even the pickiest of eaters. Fresh fruits and pastries, mini yogurt parfaits, scrambled eggs, breakfast meats, Mickey waffles and pancakes are just some of the items your child might be interested in. My daughter always perked right up when she saw fruit and a croissant hit the table, not much more interested her but I could always count on those things.
If you don't think those choices are going to work, however, Disney is so good about accommodating people with special requests when it comes to food. When you arrive at Chef Mickey's, I'd recommend requesting to speak to one of the Chefs working that morning. If your child likes eggs prepared a certain way, maybe they can do that for you. If your child likes their toast a certain way, like no crust, maybe they can fix that right up. The Cast Members at Chef Mickey's want everyone to leave with happy full bellies and I am sure they will do their best to try to accommodate your child. It certainly doesn't hurt to ask!
I am so thrilled that some of the character meals are back at select Walt Disney World restaurants. It's nice to once again see Mickey and the gang smiling and waving for the camera. Just a heads up, due to current circumstances, characters are not coming around to individual tables for autographs and posing for pictures. They are instead, walking about the restaurant, spreading magic from afar. But still have that camera out and ready, there will surely be some great photo opportunities. Before you leave, you'll also be given a special autographed keepsake for your table to take home to remember your meal.
I hope you really do talk to the Chef when you arrive at Chef Mickey's, Katie. I am sure they will work something out for you and your child. If you have any other questions before your trip, I'd love for you to come back and ask! Enjoy!
