How does the Extra Magic Hours work if your not staying at a Disney resort? We have stayed at the resorts for several years in the past, but our group that is traveling this December/January 2019 is too large and have opted to VRBO a home.

Hello Cari, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I am so happy to hear that you will be celebrating the new year with a visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. Extra Magic Hours are a great way to get an early start to your morning visits to a Disney Theme Park or a way to get in a few extra hours of magic before turning in. Guests who are staying at a select Disney Resort Hotel can enjoy this perk at the park designated for a morning or evening Extra Magic Hours. For guests taking advantage of the Extra Magic Morning Hour, Cast Members will scan your MagicBand or card to verify that you are a resort guest before allowing you to enter. Guests who plan to take advantage of the Extra Magic Evening Hours, a Cast Member will scan the MagicBand of guests prior to boarding or enter rides and attractions to verify that you are a resort guest. If you are not a resort guest you will not have access to enter the parks early or enjoy attractions after the regular park closing.

There are other special tickets and special event offerings that may give you early or late access to a few theme parks. Disney Early Morning Magic has been offered at the Magic Kingdom, giving guests access to a few rides and attractions in Fantasyland, prior to the park opening. Disney Early Morning Magic at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, allows guests to play big at Toy Story Land before the park opens. Another limited ticket event is Disney After Hours at the Magic Kingdom. This event gives guests access to 25 rides and attractions for 3 hours with complimentary snacks. Currently, there have not been any dates announced for December or January for these events, as of yet. I would suggest that you keep your ears tuned for the announcement of potential event dates.

    See ya real soon,
    Andrea
