Ahoy Michele!
I'm so happy to hear that you are planning an extended family vacation on the Disney Fantasy. Get ready for
all that’s included on a Disney cruise: fabulous food, exceptional service, Broadway-caliber shows, and special memory-making moments with favorite Disney characters!
How thoughtful you are for wanting to make it easier for all the characters to sign a souvenir! Have you noticed how all the Disney furry friends have been well trained at handling a pen for autographs? They are doggone awesome at this trick! In fact, they sometimes have their own stamp at the ready with their signature so they get more time to interact with guests! As far as best markers to use, I like to bring chunky pens that are easy to grasp for the characters. Since you are planning on having pillowcases signed, be sure that you choose fabric markers so these cherished autographs are sure to “STAY” instead of wash away.
I love how special moments with our favorite Disney characters can be enhanced with autograph books and signed items; we can relive those interactions when we look at our special souvenirs later. We still laugh about our conversations with Captain Jack after our day ashore on Castaway Cay and found it to be a great way to kick off our
Pirate Night festivities. Not to mention greeting Captain Mickey and my son asking him who was steering the ship since he was meeting with us!
Be aware that some
Character Greetings are designated as photo locations only and autographs are not allowed due to time constraints. Ask a Cast Member to find out if this is the case ahead of time to avoid surprises. While I haven’t seen this happen often, I can totally understand why they might have to put this into practice at times.
Check out the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator App once onboard for times and locations to meet the characters. You can even set reminders so you won’t miss a single one! Some characters are so popular that they have
ticketed events for their greetings like the Princess Gathering and the Frozen Meet and Greet with Anna and Elsa. To book those, log onto Disney Cruise Line website and access “My Cruise Activities” during your advance booking window. If you are not successful reserving them ahead of time, check with Guest Services (Deck 3, Midship) once you board the ship.
Since you are keen to capture all the character meet and greets on souvenirs, my recommendation is that you order a photo package
because these adorable moments will also be captured thanks to the team of photographers onboard. Here’s a money-saving tip:
pre-purchase the Photo Package and you'll save some Disney dollars. To get the discount, the package must be ordered at least 2 days before the start of your sailing. We have loved looking back at old cruise photos together and reminiscing about our favorite moments.
Say "cheese" and pose us another question here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel as your cruise planning comes into focus. Wishing you a fabulous sailing with Captain Mickey and his pals!
SEA ya real soon!
